Weiferd Watts, Photographer
(9/26/1956 – 10/10/2010)
September 26th marks the birthday of the incredibly gifted and humble artist, Weiferd Watts, who was widely recognized for his photography of dancers, body builders, fitness trainers and models.
Here, we look back at some of those rare moments when Weiferd was actually in front of the camera and not behind it.
Weiferd Watts was born in San Francisco, CA on September 26, 1956.

He spent his early years in Berkeley, CA and, later moved to Oakland where, in 1974, he graduated from Fremont High School. Throughout his childhood, Weiferd displayed great artistic ability, which led to his attending the California School of Arts and Crafts. In time, he developed a passion for taking snapshots and attended San Francisco City College to further his knowledge and skills in photography.
Weiferd’s devotion to his craft served him well. Over the years, because of his expertise and creativity, Weiferd was highly sought after as a photographer.

Always a Flair For the Dramatic!!

Here’s Weiferd Watts “posing” for the camera
In fact, Weiferd was truly a dancer at heart. His incredible sense of line, expression, composition, and timing always brought out the best of any subject he was photographing.
Last, but not least, Weiferd will always be remembered—and greatly missed—for his warmth, kindness, and sense of humor. He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well.
