Numerous burlesque festivals are held annually in many states throughout the U.S. Here is a list: http://www.edbarnas.com/Burlesque. There is a common misconception that only women perform burlesque, but in fact, the performers can be men or women.
Cirque du Soleil’s, Zumanity: (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/zumanity), is just one example of a currently running show that incorporates some elements of burlesque.
