From time to time, dance-related information is shared with us that may be very useful to many of you out there.  When that happens, we just pass it along. Here’s the latest.

In dance, as for any field, success is not always guaranteed by hard work and talent alone.  Beyond the hours spent in the rehearsal studio, we often have to think about tasks like marketing, fundraising, and outreach to boost our audiences.

But who really has time for it? After working on choreography, costumes, and teaching class, there’s not much time for anything else.  Therefore, the best solution to this problem is to get somebody else to do it!

A new company—Start Up and Dance— has made it their mission to do just THAT.

Founded by Mike Marriott, former marketing and public relations administrator for the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, this New York-based dance management and marketing company provides services to help dance organizations and freelance dancers generate revenue and increase exposure of their brand.

As stated on their website

“Start Up and Dance provides affordable, customized marketing and management packages for dance organizations and freelance dance artists.” says Mr. Marriott.  We assist dance entities with performance promotion, resume and bio development, new program creation, and a host of other services that are necessary to the success of the dancer or dance organization.”

“We incorporate a variety of business practices, merchandising, and promotional campaigns similar to those used in the music and sports industries.  When applied to dance entities such as dance competitions, college dance programs, and non-profit dance companies, these practices have been proven to be substantially more successful at building an audience and fostering growth than traditional dance industry business practices and promotions.  It is the mission of Start Up and Dance to see that our clients are the most successful organizations and artists in their segment of the dance industry. ”

“Increase Exposure, Generate Revenue, Expand Audience, Foster Growth”

“At Start Up and Dance, we tailor our services to best assist our client’s needs. Whatever the goals and aspirations of your dance entity, Start Up and Dance can help you get there.”

Services offered include such specialties as:

  • Dance Studios, Schools, and Academies
  • For-Profit and Non-Profit Dance Companies
